Angelica Mesiti
FILTER: VIOLENCE AND ITS COUNTERSTRIKES
Immigrants leave much of their culture behind when they leave their homeland, but they also take things with them. Music, for example. Angelica Mesiti filmed a water drummer from Cameroon, a throat singer from Mongolia, a Raïa musician from Algeria and a flute artist from Sudan. They play their music in public spaces in Sydney, Brisbane and Paris, the cities in their new homeland. Citizens Band is about the universal language of song and sound and keeping cultural traditions alive in personal, intimate music.
