Gijs Assmann
In the 18th-century theater, a Sinnepop represented an allegorical figure. Assman based this figure on a life-sized doll made by psychiatric patient Katharina Detzel, which she always carried around with her. With this work, Assman considers the human aspect of life which is sometimes morbid. Capable of being viewed from all angles, the doll is sentenced to complete transparency – a very vulnerable position.
