Harun Farocki
In his documentary Ein neues Produkt, Harun Farocki follows a management-consulting firm in Hamburg that specializes in the optimization of workplaces within the knowledge industry. We see the consultants in conversation with large companies about the design of their workplace, complete with flipcharts, Post-its, highlighters and impressive models and info graphics. The consultants are disguised as philosophers, who in a pompous tone bring the concept of the mobile workstation to the market. The flex space that is supposed to give employees a high degree of freedom is based on purely economic motives and cold capitalism.
